«La verdad incómoda del bosque nativo»

En una Columna publicada el 8 de octubre 2015 en el El Desconcierto por Antonio Lara (Presidente de la Fundación Forecos) , Carlos Zamorano y Alejandro Miranda. Académicos Universidad Austral de Chile e investigadores del Centro de Ciencia del Clima y la Resiliencia (CR)2 señalan que cada cierto tiempo en los medios de prensa basados en fuentes oficiales como la CONAF informan sobre una disminución en la pérdida de bosque nativo, sin embargo investigaciones, recientes señalan que después del año 2000 persisten importantes tasas de pérdida neta de bosques nativos, que suman más de 30.000 ha anuales, valor es más de cuatro veces superior a la estimación de 6.700 ha anuales señalados en el informe de CONAF. Varias de estas investigaciones muestran que la tasa de pérdida neta de bosques nativos a partir del año 2000 ha aumentado en vez de disminuir en comparación con la década 1990-2000. Finalmente ellos concluyen que nuestro país aún enfrenta serios problemas de pérdida y degradación de bosques nativos, los cuales no deben soslayarse o ser subestimados. Menos aún, cuando no existe en Chile un sistema de monitoreo nacional que pueda realmente dar cuenta de los cambios de la superficie y estado de conservación del bosque
