“Recuperando el agua proyectamos vida en la comunidad de Mashue”,

A mediados de Mayo comenzó el proyecto “Recuperando el agua proyectamos vida en la comunidad de Mashue”, dirigido por el Comité de Agua Potable Rural de sector. La iniciativa tendrá una duración de 18 meses y son 30 millones de pesos aportados por el Fondo de Protección Ambiental (FPA).

El objetivo del proyecto es fortalecer y desarrollar capacidades para la adaptación al cambio climático en la comunidad rural de Mashue, mediante la restauración del bosque nativo y el desarrollo de actividades de educación ambiental en colegios rurales del sector.

Con la sede de la junta de vecinos completa de socios y vecinos del comité de agua de la localidad, autoridades como el lonco de la zona oeste de la Unión, Donalda Naupallan, el director regional de CONAF, Fredy Ortega; y la seremi de Medio Ambiente, Claudia Peña. Se dio el inicio al desarrollo del proyecto FPA del comité de agua potable rural, en el año 20 del fondo del ministerio del medio ambiente.

La necesidad de un proyecto nace por impactos causados en la zona. “El ramoneo, la extracción de leña y madera, así como la plantación excesiva de eucaliptos ha provocado que la calidad de suelo se vea perjudicada, afectando la biodiversidad, y la provisión de agua en calidad y cantidad en la localidad de Mashue” comentó José Luis Buitano presidente del comité de agua potable de la localidad y parte del proyecto FPA.

Esta iniciativa del Fondo de Protección Ambiental, de la categoría de proyectos sostenibles 2017 es ejecutada por el Comité de Agua Potable Rural de Mashue, y las instituciones asociadas son la Municipalidad de La Unión, CONAF, La Escuela Particular San Miguel, La Escuela Rural de Mashue y la Forestal Anchile Ltda.

“La línea de proyectos sostenibles beneficia a organizaciones con experiencia, que tengan trabajos realizados, justamente es lo que el comité de Mashue tiene con proyectos anteriores. Con esta iniciativa los socios y población del sector podrán tomar mayor conciencia de la necesidad de proteger el recurso agua. Aunque en este sentido se destaca el interés y conocimientos de la comunidad” comentó el Juan Cerpa, encargado de la sección de educación ambiental, de la Seremia de Medio Ambiente de Los Ríos.

“Mashue con este proyecto viene a ser pioneros y esperamos que otros comités puedan conocer la experiencia que tengan para implementar acciones similares”, agregó Cerpa.  Cabe señalar que Mashue depende completamente del abastecimiento de agua de las dos microcuencas, donde el comité capta el agua para consumo y riego de subsistencia.

Este FPA tiene la meta de recuperar el bosque degradado de las principales cuencas, para así adaptarse al cambio climático; implementarán un vivero permanente de plantas nativas, para apoyar la recuperación de las mismas cuencas; una novedad será la implementación de un centro de difusión de conservación de agua y adaptación al cambio climático; y finalmente, la elaboración de un programa de educación ambiental. El comité espera elaborar un plan estratégico para la conservación de agua y adaptación al cambio climático, “por esta razón este proyecto es el punto de partida” concluyó Buitano.
