Informe a la Nación “La megasequía 2010-2015: una lección para el futuro”

El Centro de Ciencia del Clima y la Resiliencia (CR)2 publicó el Informe a la Nación “La megasequía 2010-2015: una lección para el futuro”. Documento que aborda de manera interdisciplinaria las diversas aristas del déficit de precipitaciones que ha afectado a la zona centro y sur de Chile durante los últimos cinco años. La realización de éste informe implicó cerca de dos años de análisis y determinó que la sequía, que ha afectado a algunos sectores del país por casi siete años, es la más larga y geográficamente extensa de la historia. El estudio reveló, entre otros, que el 25% del fenómeno no es por causa natural, sino por el cambio climático, por lo que en el futuro será más frecuente. Por lo mismo, un porcentaje de las precipitaciones (entre 10% y 12%) ya es irrecuperable. Sin embargo, ofrece una lección reveladora para enfrentar el clima futuro, más cálido y seco, e incrementar nuestra resiliencia frente a las fluctuaciones climáticas naturales y antrópicas.

En la elaboración del Informe participó el Dr. Antonio Lara, Invetigador Principal de la Línea Servicios Ecosistémicos del (CR)2 y Presidente de la Fundación Centro de los Bosques Nativos Forecos y la Dra. Laura Nahuelhual, Investigadora Adjunta de la Línea Dimensión Humana del (CR)2 y colaboradora y fundadora de la Fundación Centro de los Bosques Nativos Forecos.
