Con acto público se celebró Día Mundial de los Humedales en Valdivia

Los miembros de la Mesa Regional de Humedales, se tomaron parte de la costanera de la ciencia de la capital regional, para conmemorar el Día Mundial de los Humedales. Un acto donde estuvieron presentes las autoridades de diversos servicios públicos, vecinos, dirigentes sociales, miembros de organizaciones no gubernamentales, académicos, turistas y transeúntes.

En la actividad se entregó por primera vez un reconocimiento al trabajo para la protección de los ecosistemas húmedos de la Región, al experto en aves, Dr. Roberto Schlatter, académico de la Universidad Austral y Gestor del Santuario dela Naturaleza Río Cruces y Chorocamayo

La actividad se realizó frente a un gran número de turistas, que se acercaron a pedir información, sobre uno de los hábitats de mayor presencia en el territorio de la Región de Los Ríos, además se montó una pequeña feria informativa, acompañada de la música de Francisco Manquecheo.

En la ceremonia, la seremi del Medio Ambiente, Carla Peña, comentó que lo que se quiso lograr con este acto fue hacer una intervención en la cual llamen la atención y que la gente pueda informarse. “A igual que hace tres años nos hemos congregado en la costanera de Valdivia para entregar información a los transeúntes, pero también generar un hito comunicacional, para contarles a la comunidad sobre los trabajos y avances en materia de humedales”, aseguró la autoridad.

Jonathan Nauto, representante de la Comunidad Humedal, quienes participaban por primera vez en esta actividad indicó: “La participación por primera vez en la mesa regional de humedales y en esta ceremonia es muy importante como comunidad humedal, y marca un hito para nosotros como agrupación, porque queremos hacernos presentes como organizaciones aledañas al territorio”, afirmó el dirigente.

Por su parte, el Jefe Provincial de CONAF, Vicente Rodríguez hizo hacer un poco de historia al destacar que históricamente desde que se firma la el acuerdo de Humedales Ramsar, la CONAF ha asumido un rol protagónico, funcionando como la secretaria técnica de dicho acuerdo, hasta el año 2005 cuando pierde dicho rol, pero aun así seguimos siendo parte del comité de los Humedales Para Chile.
